Story Behind the Song
For years I have been wanting to include the scene from the book of Revelation that depicts the final return of Christ as He is joined by the heavenly hosts, riding on his gallant white steed to reclaim the earth. Decades ago I had composed a song for this dynamic moment in the Scriptures. However, I just havent been happy enough with the song to do something with it.
It was when I recorded the great hymn Crown Him With Many Crowns that I happened upon the idea that eventually became a reality. While looking up the history of this praise hymn I noticed that it was inspired by this great time in future history where Christ returns to claim what is rightfully His. I had just created the instrumental for this traditional song, so I suddenly realized that I had the music that I needed for these specific scripture readings from Revelation.
Another praise song, Crowned With Glory, that I had recently written, was inspired by Crown Him With Many Crowns. As I looked at the words of this song I began to realize how well it fit in to the story of Christs glorious return. So, I decided to experiment by tagging Crowned With Glory to the back of Crown Him With Many Crowns. I discovered that musically and thematically they were a perfect match!! Suddenly I realized that, without knowing it, I had composed a marvelous musical rendition of the great day in the future when Christ will be revealed in all of His glory.
It is a magnificent scripture and the music is a natural match. Read the following text from Revelation as you listen to the instrumental portion of this piec. Then sit back and praise God with Vanessa as she sings Crowned with Glory. We are certain that the experience will provide you with a blessing!
Then the angel said to me, Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! And he added, These are the true words of God.
At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one but He Himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dripped in blood, and His name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He had this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
An I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and mighty men, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, small and great.
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and His army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed miraculous signs on His behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshipped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and the birds gorged themselves on their flesh. (Rev 19:8b-21)
And I saw and angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
I saw the thrones on which were seated those who have been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years. (Rev 20:1-6)
Lyrics
You Are Crowned With Glory
Jesus Christ, Almighty God forever reigns in glory!
King of kings and Lord of lords, the God of heaven and earth!
He is crowned with glory and honor and praise,
And robed in goodness and mercy,
To reign with justice and wisdom and grace,
We bow down to humbly adore You, Almighty God.
Jesus Christ bore on the cross the sins that once reigned over us,
Now one day we will reign with Him, redeemed by holy blood.
He is crowned with glory and honor and praise,
And robed in goodness and mercy,
To reign with justice and wisdom and grace,
We bow down to humbly adore You, Almighty God.
The Lord of life, our God of love, forever lives within us,
Now at His feet well praise His Name, our Lord Emmanuel!
He is crowned with glory and honor and praise,
And robed in goodness and mercy,
To reign with justice and wisdom and grace,
We bow down to humbly adore You, Almighty God.
