Story Behind the Song
This piano piece is the second in a series of reflective instrumentals intended to encourage us to dwell on the fruits of the Spirit that Paul wrote about in Galatians 5:22. As you listen to the melodic piano accented by sonorous acoustic guitars, a soft flute and resonate cello read the following scriptures as you lift your praise unto God:
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb 12:2)
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Rom 14:17)
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because You will not abandon me to the grave, nor let You Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasure at Your right hand. (Ps 16:7-11)
When Your words came, I ate them; they were joy and my hearts delight, for I bear Your name, O Lord God Almighty. (Jer 15:16)
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salbation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. (Isa 12:2-3)
I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will ever sing for joy. (Ps 132:16)
I delight greatly in the Lord, my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Isa 61:10)
As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Now remain in My love. If you obey My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have obeyed my Fathers commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. (John 15:9-11)
Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. (I Pet 1:8)
And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing in Jerusalem could be heard far away. (Ne 12:43)
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (II Cor 9:6-7)
He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. (Ps 126:6)
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will turn back to You. (Ps 51:10-13)
For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of the Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. (I Th 2:19-20)
Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now He harvests the crop for eternal life; so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. (Jn 4:36)
For His anger last only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning. (Ps 89:16)
Those who sow in tears will reap songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seeds to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. (Ps 126:5-6)
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (James 1:2-4)
Dear friend, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange is happening to you. But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed. (I Pet 4:12-13)
Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Neh 8:10b)
Now if we are children, the we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. (Rom 8:17-18)
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (Eph 1:18)
. . .and the ransomed of the Lord will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. (Isa 35:10)
After that, we who are still alive will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever. (I Th 4:17)
Our mouths are filled with laughter, our tongues with song of joy. Then it was said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them (Ps 126:2)
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain; for the old order of things has passed away. (Rev 21:4)
