From the Viva Los Virtual archives - Covered Dish, Gainesville FL. 1995. From a tape of the show...
    Credits: Guess/Santo 1995

    Story Behind the Song
    RG - acoustic gtr. voc.
    JS - 12-str elec. voc.
    SS - Drums
    RT - Keys

Robert G. had a Takamine, black.
John had a Ric 12 and a Marshall 1/2 stack.

At the Covered Dish. Gainesville, FL. Do you remember what you were doing in '95?

    Sam was holding time.
    Robert T. was doing fine.

Covered Dish - big stage, Elvis clock, place to sit outside. Sound was never all that good at the Dish. They had a cassette on the board, not a DAT. Good crowd that night...

Saw Velocity Girl at the Dish once.

Saw For Squirrels at the Dish. Before the accident. Before the crash.

Saw Saigon Kick at the Dish. Maybe it was somewhere else. Club X? What was that place called? Turned into a country bar. Do you remember what you were doing in '95?

River Phoenix was there at Saigon Kick - stepped on my foot. He was alive then. Lived in G'ville. Hurt my foot. He was Indiana Jones. The young Indy. Fell into some snakes or something.

People die. This song is about Canada Dry.

Ginger ale. Think it is cranberry. Comes in a pink looking can. Ever had it? Good drink.

In a different world, we'd all drink that Canada Dry. Drank 24 of them and wrote this song. Good drink, good song. Do they make that pink Canada Dry anymore?

Love that ginger ale. Love that pink can. Good stuff. Would like to have one now, but there isn't any in the fridge.

Haven't had a pink Canada Dry since about '95.

    Lyrics
    "Where are you all headed?"
"Downtown. How much do you think the fare will be?"
"A buck, but with the traffic it will take a while..."
"How long to head out to the beach?"
"The traffic is going the other direction this time of
    day - not too long."
    "There then."
Quite a windy day at the beach, still nice though.
Happens sometimes - you get up take a shower, get
    ready.
Go outside and the wind messes your hair.
The syndrome is exacerbated if you have a convertible.
Such is life. No one said that it was fair.

"Listen to this: I had these two dreams last night."
    "Tell, tell..."
"One was about us eating in Italy, the other one I
    just don't remember."
In Italy - the mood is somber.
    Feeling sad.
Drinking wine - keeps me from feeling worse.
    Drinking more.
    Getting drunk.
Helps to keep from figuring out why I'm sad.

December - New York city. Burr.
    Where's my jacket?
    Can't find my friends.
Call a cab - it comes after about 20 minutes.
Get in - got to go. Still no friends.
Warm in the cab. Had a soda in my pocket.
Crack it open. Good soda. Love this pop.
    Hits the spot.
