"If someone had of told me it was the Rolling Stones I would have believed them." - The eminent Mr. Ken Redbourn. Midnight Train is a rock 'hurtin' song with a happy ending. It is about a man who strays only to have his beloved leave him on a Midnight Train and then forgive and return to him by the time the train pulls back into the station. We are serenaded, beginning and end, by a sirens' song of train whistles and wheels which allures and then liberates the imagination as we rock along the track. Whether it sounds like early Rolling Stones or not is a matter for deliberation. I have idolized Mick Jagger for his unspeakable talent over the course of a lifetime. Although not intentional, it should come as no great surprise if I come off sounding a bit like Mick here and there. I'm obviously and appropriately humbled by Mr. Redbourns' more than gracious compliment. Other of my fans have told me they love Midnight Train and that they and even their chidren sing it and have memorized all of the words. What more can I say but that I love my fans. - Kenneth Montgomery Keillor

    MIDNIGHT TRAIN

MIDNIGHT TRAIN CHUGGIN' DOWN THE TRACK

SINCE MY BABY GONE AN' JUMPED THAT TRAIN
    MY MIND GONE LEFT ME

    YA KNOW
MOMMA ALWAYS TAUGHT ME HOW TO TREAT A LADY
AN' NEVER SHOULD I DO HER WRONG
AN' THEN I TOOK MY EYES OF MY BABY
AN' WHEN I TURN AROUND SHE WAS GONE
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN

MIDIGHT TRAIN GONE AN' STOLE MY HEART YA KNOW
IT TOOK MY LOVE AN' IT'S TEARIN' ME APART
I GOT TO CLIMB ON BOARD 'FORE THAT ENGINE PARTS
'CAUSE I GOT TO FIND MY BABE
AN' I KNOW JUST WHERE TO START

    MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    MIDNIGHT TRAIN

    YA KNOW
MOMMA ALWAYS TAUGHT ME HOW TO TREAT A LADY
AN' NEVER SHOULD I DO HER WRONG
AN' THEN I TOOK MY EYES OF MY BABY
AN' WHEN I TURN AROUND SHE WAS GONE
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN

WELL, LOOK OUT THERE AS FAR AS EYES CAN SEE
I THINK MY BABY'S COMIN' BACK TO ME
    SO DON'T HOLD ME BACK
    YOU KNOW I CAN'T RESTRAIN
I SEEN MY BABY ON THAT MIDNIGHT TRAIN

    YA KNOW
MOMMA ALWAYS TAUGHT ME HOW TO TREAT A LADY
AN' NEVER SHOULD I DO HER WRONG
AN' THEN I TOOK MY EYES OF MY BABY
AN' WHEN I TURN AROUND SHE WAS GONE
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
    ON A MIDNIGHT TRAIN
