Everyone has a fondly remembered place of enchantment and hope, that somehow suffered tragedy. There is nothing more lonely than an abandoned,weather-worn amusement park. My son,Billy played the final solo, check him out mp3,com - visitor | MP3.com CD: POST INDUSTRIAL BLUE - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
When economic catastrophe hits a town many sad things happen.Jobs and business disappear over night. Lives are ruined, dreams.plans snuffed out in an instant. People have to flee the city to search out new lives, regardless of thier personal situations. In my home town stands the remains of a small amusement park that once gave so much fun and happiness,it's impossible for me to describe.
Another victim of another fire it remains and gives us,those who chose to stay,a true definition of the word NOSTALGIA, a PAIN for the past.As time and elements slowly erases whats left it stubbornly refuses to disappear
That is what this song is about, the IDORA that is now, Post-indutrial blue at its strongest example. I cant tell you what a sad feeling I get when I go by this special place,so many feelings,so many feelings.
This song came fast both music and lyrics
originaly music was going to be a love song for my wife jacquline[to the notes of i dor a
] but with her permission I felt to put it toward another love.I think I wrote the lyrics in an hour.I put much time into the production, countless guitar experiments as well as vocals, but the song "wanted" to remain simple and straight foward.Off and on
I'd say 3 weeks solid work and most of it ended on the cutting room floor.I just could not get an acceptable, appropriate guitar solo,
at the songs end, so I asked my son BILLY if he would take a crack at it. What he gave me was just what it needed,a simple direct, harsh
yet soft passage reminiscent of early George
Harrison[rubber soul period}.So its his solo
I kept and his Pro-recording debut as well. Lets talk, write me any time.
Lyrics
IDORA
INTRO-Lead Guitar
VERSE:I'ts only just an image of a place
that i once knew.
A photograph of me and you in 1962.
And somewhere in our life,
we lose our yesterdays.
CHORUS: IDORA
VERSE:A sanctuary carousel,stand in line
to take a ride.
We're leaning on the funhouse gate
hearing all the joy inside.
Coz somewhere in our life
We let it grow away.
CHORUS: IDORA IDORA
BRIDGE:Life is often like a rollercoaster
Tossing us around and too and fro
How'd we ever get to where we're going
I dont know.
REPEAT INTRO
VERSE:And now it sits a lonely shrine
of all the things it could have been.
A beacon of my past
Reminding childhood friends.
Every thing we love will always slip away.
CHORUS: IDORA IDORA
Every thing we love will always slip away.
CHORUS: IDORA IDORA
OUTRO: LEAD GUITAR SOLO-- FADE---
