    Story Behind the Song
This song is about a good friend who, through missed opportunities, was unable to maintain a relationship with me during a time of immense upheaval and confusion in both our lives.

The second verse describes an occasion when my friend travelled 900km to Sydney to visit me, and the events of that visit - both things that were said and done.

I hope this goes some way to apologising for all the confusion and pain associated with those times.

I wrote it in one hour in July 1997, shortly after the events described within. It was not until March 2000 that I recorded this version with 2 of my close friends, who I met at my favourite Brisbane cafe.

We got around to using a 8-track digital mixer/recorder when a 4th local musician, Chris Blake, offered his equipment and expertise to burn a one-track CD with this song.

It took the four of us three hours to record it.

Once another of my good friends heard it, he took the opportunity to encode it to MP3 and upload it to this site, and is largely responsible for making me aware of the possiblities of distribution in this format and medium. Cheers Gordo.

    Lyrics
Thought of sending you a letter
To apologise for the words you've read
    Thought it might appease me
    Make me feel better
Maybe it's just that I'm stuck on you.

And my broken heart is mending
And it's gonna take me some time
I can feel it pulling and stretching
    Over you

Rommie and Michelle's reunion flick had ended
So the stairs I carried you down
You slid on over on the Holden benchseat
On the way back to the interstate busline

And my broken heart is mending
And it's gonna take me some time
I can feel it pulling and stretching
    Over you
