My favorite track on my album. Thick, sultry dance/electronic rock. Moody and passionate with a deep base beat that makes you want to slowly sway your hips and run to the nearest club. Darker than "Garbage," more dance-like than "Curve." The lyrics are quality, but I won't say exactly what they are about. It's up to the fan to decide. I want you to be involved fully in the experience. Share it with me.

    Story Behind the Song
"Rachel" was born during an angst-fest which was fueled by absolutely nothing in particular. I'm a huge X-Files fan and the
moodiness of the show combined with the creative juices I had flowing compelled me to write this song, which happens to be my personal favorite on the album. As soon as I wrote it, I knew I had created something special.

    Lyrics
"Rachel" C. 1999 by Shari Sklar

    Hey there
    What are you doing?
    Tell me
    Why are you here?
    Rachel
    Is in the tower
    Her guardian is watching fierce

    CHORUS:
Don't even try to bust her out
    It won't work
She's sealed inside her limited world
    Just about
    Appreciate her beauty and
You'll try to turn her frown
    But everlasting chains are
So very hard to break now.

    Hero
    What have you got there?
    Secret
    How did you know?
    About this rescue
    Operation
    Under darkness
    In shadow

    CHORUS:
Don't even try to bust her out
    It won't work
She's sealed inside her primitive world
    Just about
You feel bad for her station and
You'll try to dry her tears
The world should have more like you to
Go on in and erase my fears.

    BRIDGE:
Oh, I've never seen such determination
I've never seen such toil before
No, I've never seen such abomination as it
Strikes the hearts of suburban boys, yes.

    So then
    Now that you've done it
    Whisper
    How does it feel?
    Rachel
    Was it worth it?
Is it better to be free?
