    Story Behind the Song
I was sitting at my desk at my 9-5 job thinking about all of the things in life
that just go by. We're a drop in the bucket when set up against man's timeline, yet we
each have unique emotions and events which make our lives.

I wrote the song in about 30 minutes at work and recorded it four years later.
It took a whole lot of takes, about 12, to get the groove right on this one, and then we layered the rest of thi instruments.

    Lyrics
    Another Year

I turn the noise off and I start a pot of coffee
I hear the water running a million miles away
I hit the pavement or maybe the pavement hits me
I sit at work and I wait for another day

I read of danger and sometimes I think of breathing
I talk to people that I will never know
I do the job and then I am left to daydream
Eating crackers over places I will never go

I saw the light of tomorrow at five o'clock
I wonder how many pieces there are left to unlock

    CHORUS
And it all rolls away like waves on the water
Time sells itself as blood for the children
Everyone cries but no one sheds a tear
As we are all lost in the shuffle of another year.

She wakes up early and she makes the bread from scratch
She fills the car up and she goes inside to pay
She writes the checks out and she folds up all the laundry
She finds a nickel someone lost along the way

She blinks as she reads her child a bedtime story
She does the dishes and she kneels down at night to pray
She tells her husband that she really loves him
Sometimes she shows him at the end of her day

She saw the light of tomorrow in her baby's eyes
She wonders where it went as she kisses her boy good-bye

    CHORUS

I saw the light of tomorrow and some never will

    CHORUS
