Story Behind the Song
You know the deal. Bad relationship, try again, repeat process 'till you get it right. But take heart, there's always the right one out there somewhere. I heard a nice little chord progression one day on TV and really liked it. But the song or melody didn't go where I thought it should go.(As if I'm some kind of expert or something) Anyway, I took the first two chords and came up with this little story. There's a couple different recordings of this tune. The first one I did was more of an acoustic version. But I always thought the song was better with the electric thing happening. It was recorded here at my project studio in Greensboro, NC.
Lyrics
I spent several lonely heartbeats on a stranger
That I thought I knew just fine
I spent seven months alone and out of danger
Since I got her off my mind
Like lightning in the day
You turned and looked my way
Your eyes struck me nearly blind
Now I'm looking down the highway of your heart
Feels like I fell again this time
I dropped two years of my life upon another
I thought I knew her well
It took six long months just tryin' to recover
From the woman's cruel farewell
Then you came along
Your love made me strong
I guess sometimes you just can't tell
CHORUS:
First love, I was too young
Second love, I nearly got stung
Third time, I took it on the chin
First time, I wasn't too smart
Second time, I broke my fool heart
This time, I think I'm gonna win
I'm Back In Love Again
Now it's a troubled man who wanders through his life without somebody by his side
And there ain't nothing like an evil woman's heart
To make him run away and hide
Like a morning in the spring
You make this old heart sing
I'm so glad you're by my side
REPEAT CHORUS OUT
