Story Behind the Song
I don't know what to say about this song. I think it's my strongest yet, even though I wish I could go back and make a couple of changes in the way I recorded the electric guitar.
I recorded this song once and did a pretty bad job with it, so later when I knew more what I was doing in the studio I came back and did the whole thing again. I'm glad I saved it.
Lyrics
If I lived 9000 years ago,
I'd want to be a lord,
Have a strong stone fortress,
Carry a heavy sword.
Wearing 60 pounds of shining armor,
I'd leave the dull life to the peasant farmers.
Welcome to the real world.
She's an ordinary girl,
But she makes you feel fine.
Sometimes there's not that much to take,
And you don't have much to give,
Still she makes you feel fine.
She's with you all the time
And you feel fine.
If I lived 2000 years ago,
An emperor I would be,
Watch gladiators Sunday afternoons,
My subjects loving me.
With golden hair, white gowns and a mighty throne,
All of Europe, baby, it would be our own.
