Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired a twisted yet accurate perspective of living around my insane neighbors from childhood to young adulthood in my home town, an old established New York neighborhood. People living in your neighborhood might appear odd or strange, but they are, at the very least, a great source of gossip and entertainment.
Lyrics
GOOD MORNING JOHN
Words & Music by John Cavadias
Grew up in a town where no one really knows each other
People all around seem so afraid of one another
Well, the way things are going on today
You can't blame the neighbors for the things they say
But when they talk to me they call me by my name
Yes, when they talk to me they want to play the game
Well, always hearing the same old lines
About the weather getting better and Mama's doing fine
CHORUS:
"Good morning, good morning John
I hope you have a nice day, take care, so long
Be good my friend until I see you again"
Always hearing the came old lines
About the weather getting better and Mama's doing fine
Yea! Mama's doing fine
And when they talk to me they're only driving me insane
"Never mind about the girl next door
Have you heard old Harry doesn't get it anymore"
CHORUS:
"Good morning, good morning John
I hope you have a nice day, take care, so long
Be good my friend until I see you again"
And when they talk to me they call me by my name
Yes when they talk to me you know they want to play the game
It's been some time since I've been gone
But I can still hear them singing
"Good morning John"
CHORIS: (Repeat)
