Here's a version of the song live, without a band. A Satire - absurd, sarcastic, ironic, facetious; NOT serious.
    CD: Not commercially available.

    Story Behind the Song
An Open Letter To Fans and Foes:

A few months ago I received a number of emails regarding my song Kill A Kitten. It seems that the lyrics had been circulating on the internet with the misunderstanding that the song is to be taken literally.

As you may not know, I am a comedian and musician and have been performing the song for over two years. I wrote the song in response to the atrocities that have been perpetrated on innocent animals. It is intended for a mature audience. I am as repulsed by such crimes as you are, and I wrote the song to mock such acts. Harming an animal in any way could never accomplish the goals stated in the song. That's the joke.

I am sorry that my work has been taken out of context and used as a target for justified but misdirected anger. Animal abuse is a serious problem and we all need to work diligently to prevent it. Thank you for taking the time to write.

P.S. Here's the letter being sent out by the station in Baltimore that played the song:

    February 17, 2000

    Dear :

I am curious as to whether you have actually heard
the song, or heard ABOUT the
song. There seems to be a big difference in
    interpretation from those who have
heard the material in context versus those who have
merely read the lyrics in an
e-mail. We have over 380,000 listeners and most seem
    to have been able to
understand the true intent of the song and not take
    it literally.

In any event, the song was aired no more than 3
times, and we stopped playing it
    more than 6 weeks ago.

    Thank you for your concern,

    Rick Strauss
