Story Behind the Song
This song was written in a style that I
thought my dad would enjoy. It reminds me of the
songs from the fifties he's always singing.
Parade on Main Street is a little fact and
a lot of daydream; it took about five minutes to
write.
Lyrics
Laughing, shouting, and big balloons
Dresses blowing in the afternoon
I can hear the trumpets
from the other side of the hill.
Candy is raining down from the sky.
Why is everybody passing by?
I know I've been away,
why didn't anybody say
that there was going to be
a big parade going down on Main street?
I told Betty again
that if she saw me, was thinking of me
To wear that red dress again.
I can see her from here,
from my window, I'm looking down at her.
I can't believe she's with some
crazy other guy.
Candy is raining down from the sky.
Why is everybody passing by?
I know I've been away,
why didn't anybody say
that there was going to be
a big parade going down on Main street?
I told Betty again
that if she saw me, was thinking of me
To wear that red dress again.
I can see her from here,
from my window, I'm looking down at her.
I can't believe she's with some
crazy other guy.
Laughing, shouting, and big balloons
Dresses blowing in the afternoon
I can hear the trumpets
from the other side of the hill.
Candy is raining down from the sky.
Why is everybody passing by?
I know I've been away,
why didn't anybody say
that there was going to be
a big parade going down on Main street?
