Story Behind the Song
The song is about the dark side of love --
obsession, in other words, and how it can
lead to very unloving behavior. The obsession is shown to focus on the selfish wants of the obsessor -- in this case, HIS wants, not HER needs. And how, when his wants are not met, his reply is not understanding but feelings of entrapment and blame.
Lyrics
1
Waiting for you coolly to come to me,
But you're on the other side.
Love to have you, love to love you.
Come on woman, got to find my key and I
Say, you, you're the one to know
I've said you're the rabbit,
I'll hunt you down, down 'til I'm dead.
2
I am fascinated by the thunder in your hair.
I'm trapped there without a care.
You won't love me so I'll stay
With golden snakes blocking my way.
They lead you on, they bite you strong,
But I'll pretend to love another instead,
And insist that you're over my head.
3
She walks to the edge of town, not sure if she wants to drown.
You follow her there -- do you watch, or will you care?
-repeat 1, 2-
4
Hello girl, you know I want you
Until the end of the Summertime.
When we get there you know I'll kill you
With that nasty tongue of mine.
-repeat 3,1-
