	Story Behind the Song This song was probably the hardest one to write on "Unearthed." We had the parts for it for some time, but none of them seemed to be working together. We went into the studio (Butch Vig's Smart Studio in Madison) still a bit unsure about recording it. We were still tweaking and playing with most of it. We tossed down the bed tracks and Mike Zirkel, our engineer said, "I think this is the track to open the album." He was right on with that statement. The lyrics are focussed on facing the fear of inadequacy, taking advantage of every opportunity that is thrown at you and Realizing that we all face these challenges. Lyrics Silver I think I'm alone, I'm in a world of my own I got surveillance from assailants trying to break in my home I got to keep my doors locked, I got to keep my piece cocked I put a hole in my door cause they didn't knock I used to wake up every hour from a bad dream to keep my head from the scream of the red beam that's shining in my eyes, now I can't see they got me running from someone I think that someone is me why must I feel this way when I keep doing this to myself I look over my shoulder cause these troubles are real why must I be ashamed I can't stand to look at myself. see this simple man this simple charming fucking man he's afraid of everything that he has done he wants to hide all of the lies and all the things that burn inside oh my god, my god what have I become here they spin me around and put my face to the ground and I got 15 minutes of fame 'til I'm down and it's the harder I fight, I find the more that I bleed and if you're looking for your victim then it's guilty I plead and now they got me too afraid to walk these streets alone I can't go to the law and I can't go to my home and if I look over my shoulder I can't see what's ahead and if I'm not watching my back then I will wind up dead why am I lost in silver
