This is a cool Jungle/Bop fusion tune featuring a virtual explosion of soloing by the tenor sax, bass guitar and electric guitar. Even things out with a cool Fender Rhodes groove backed by relentless groove drumming and you'll be satisfied at all levels. |

Story Behind the Song
After stumbling upon an old drum & bass jam, the decision was made to re-record the basic groove and bop of the original into a well crafted fusion jazz jam. Lacking any real direction, this piece lets the soloing guide the rhythm and groove through various styles of music. The drums and bass were recorded live in two takes with all other instruments overdubbed. Two tenor sax tracks were recorded with selective layering used on mixdown to create one interesting track. An original eclectic electric guitar track was later replaced with Scott's leads and rhythms. Everything was recorded on a single Alesis ADAT LX20 with an Alesis 16/4bus console with the exception of the guitar, recorded on a different LX20 with a Mackie 1604VLZ. We had a limited budget and thus chose the versatile Shure SM57's and 58's we've come to love plus one AKG D-112 for bass drum, tenor and rhodes. The mix was performed through the Mackie to a DAT tape which was then transferred digitally to a PowerMac and burned to CD.
The tracks on the CD were then mastered in Toronto by Pete, Dan and Chris on a PowerMac 7200/120 and burned with a Yamaha CRW4416S.
