Escapism is an easy concept to embrace when you take a look at what's going on outside your front door. When Lennon was killed, I think hope for change died along with him for a lot of people. The search for something beautiful—that's what Orbit is about.
    CD: threesongdemo   Label: Cloud City
Credits: Cory Qualey: Vocals, Drums, Bass / Scott Farrell: Guitars

    Story Behind the Song
This song started off as a random jam in a rehearsal. Actually, the guitar part started when Scott was checking his volume and hit an "A" chord a few times in a row. Cory was back on drums and you can hear him on a rehearsal tape from that day yell "HEY! KEEP PLAYING THAT! OVER AND OVER!" and it just sprang forth... Lyrically, it's sort of a state-of-the-world song juxtaposed against the state of CORY'S world. Escapism, the loss of John Lennon, the idea of starting your life over from scratch, the fresh possibilities of an untarnished, undamaged outer space, and most of all a search for something beautiful. Where is the love?

    Lyrics
    Got a new address
And I bought myself a brand new attitude
    You'd think I couldn't lose
You'd think I might be satisfied (I'm never satisfied)
    But I'm a fool
And I'm a liar lacking game (I'm a liar just like you)
And it pinned me like a butterfly
Freshly metamorphosized and ironically born to fly
    I couldn't change the world
So I'm breaking hard and heading for the sky

    I'm gonna fly
I'm gonna fly up to the moon

Miles from the earth (I'm so far away from home)
Out here in search of something beautiful
Yeah, I'll take ANYTHING remotely beautiful
It's been years since I've seen beauty
    Where is the love?
We're so in need of Lennon now
Maybe we misunderstood the words he left
Or maybe we just threw them out
And now the message has been taken away
And today the world is a mess
And we're all reaching for anything that we can take

    I'm gonna fly
I'm gonna fly up to the moon
I'm gonna plant my flag on the furthest planet
And orbit around you in my lonely starship...

And I found I couldn't change the world
So I'm breaking hard and heading for the sky
    (I'm so ready...)

    I'm gonna fly
I'm gonna fly up to the moon
I'm gonna plant my flag on the furthest plant and orbit around you
    Please...
    Where is the love?
    Where is the love?
    I need you badly...
