Story Behind the Song
There is no real inspiration. I was thinking about being outdoors and this song is the result of that. It was written in Cincinnati and recorded in Tampa.
Enjoy--

Lyrics
(verse 1)
I've explored the highest regions
my heart would allow
I've travelled so far
yet it still hurts somehow
The skies I have seen
are as endless and true
as the ocean of tears
that I've cried over you
If I have to admit
to the world that I need you
I have to believe
once again I will see you
(chorus)
I held on because I loved you so
You held on 'cause you thought that you should not go
It's amazing you're still the one my heart sees
To this very day, I wonder if you have done better than me
(verse 2)
I hide all my pain
in my journey, you see
I'm touching the land
to forget that I'm free
The adventure has changed me
immensely it's true
And maybe someday
this will lead me to you
If I have to believe
that all this must mean something
I have to admit
that I feel I have nothing
(chorus)
I held on because I loved you so
(You thought you should not go
because I loved you so)
You held on 'cause you thought that you should not go(You thought you should've
stayed but then you up 'n'
went away)
It's amazing you're still the one my heart sees(Have you done better than me?
You're still the one my heart sees)
To this very day, I wonder if you have done better than me(Does someone love you
more than I could ever?)
(bridge)
When you're running your hands
through the sands of time
Is there a grain
that reminds you of when you were mine?
(repeat chorus last time)
