Lyrics
Bad Company
words and music by Sam Redman
Granny told me a long time ago,
there's a certain kind person that you don't wanna know.
By way that they look and the things that they say,
they show themselves and tell you right away.
She said, when you find 'em boy you'll know who they are.
It happened one night in a smokey ole bar.
Met a girl wearin' leather with a look in her eyes,
but I wasn't smart enough to realize.
What everyone could plainly see,
I was in bad company.
She had long blond hair and eyes that flashed.
She saw me when my paycheck cashed.
She was fun while it lasted, and I knew she was bad.
Well, three hours later she took what I had.
It was a lesson for me.
I was in bad company.
Granny said you'll always catch 'em in a lie.
Two guys from Memphis taught me why.
I believed their scheme like they knew I would.
That easy money just sounded real good.
Alligator shoes and a black Cadillac,
talkin' fast and smooth, a real con act.
That deal was raw, a swamp in Arkansas.
A fool from the country was what they saw.
Yeah, it dawned on me,
I was in bad company.
Twenty years later what my Granny said
Has finally sunk into my thick head.
Took fast living women and two faced men,
to learn me how to pick my friends.
Just be sure not to be in the company of bad company
In the company of bad company.
