135BPM trance. A tight, busy beat keeps this one rolling along while melodies and countermelodies come and go. This song is available on Instinct Records, "Trance Sessions", released January 8, 2002. |

Story Behind the Song
This song was composed using a variety of synths. All of the analog bass sounds, lead sounds, arpeggiated sounds, and sfx are from the Nova. The thick string/pad section at the beginning is a combination of a modified form of the preset "Utopia" from the Nova and a patch called "WarmStrngs" on the Korg Wavestation. When the thick section cuts out and you hear only a single "smaller" string sound this is the Wavestation only, where the Utopia patch has dropped out. The lush analog pad Jupiter-type sound that makes up the melody and main themes is based on a patch called "americana" from the Nova (at the time I wrote this song a short while back I actually owned a Jupiter 8 but still decided to use the Nova for its simplicity and ease of use). The Voice Lead that comes in during the second half of the song is actually a GM preset on the Alesis QS8 called "Voice Lead". It was processed with a delay/reverb effect from a Digitech TSR24 effects processor. Most of the delays and reverbs on the various sounds on this song are either from the built-in effects of the Nova or the Digitech TSR24.
All of the 909 sounds are from the Novation Drumstation and most of the remaining percussion are samples. All of the sounds that make up this track were recorded through a Mackie 1604 and into Cubase 3.7 using an Echo Darla. When I mixed down this track I didn't use the export feature in Cubase. Instead I actually mixed down live back through the Mackie one final time and back into Cubase as a stereo mixdown. I mastered it in Wavelab using an EQ plugin and Waves L1 Ultramzizer.
