	Story Behind the Song The motivation behind "Quicksand" came from being screwed over by someone I thought was a friend. The situation made me feel very hollow and empty. So I decided to write about it. The lyrics deal with my perspective on what I did to be a friend, and how those feelings and actions were taken advantage of. The song was written on a very cold February day in 1999, and took about an afternoon to complete. It was recorded in April 1999 vocals done in one take. Lyrics it looks like i've really done it this time, once and for all. somehow I fell into the quicksand and i'm sinking fast. well i guess i'm just another victim of a bad judgement call, and I don't seem to understand the reasons why-good things just don't last. when you ask for the truth, well you seldom believe it and i can't reall blame you it's too hard not to do. but i'm sick of the feelings as these bones start to rust, and i'm tired of these shoes being covered in dust. can somebody lend me a hand? i'm drowning in quicksand. this heart beats and pumps out the new blood but inside i still feel the same. maybe i worry too much maybe i always accept too much blame. they say you get what you give well what more do you need? when i've bent over backwards and i fell at your feet. but my hands are still bleeding and my head is a mess. don't tell me that this is some biblical test. when you've taken my honesty only in jest once again can somebody lend me a hand?
