one of the more complex and intricate songs, Java Dream regularly becomes a 25 minute jam fest at most shows with the band dropping in samples from artists such as Parliment Funkadelic, Digital Underground, Cole Porter, The Police, The Commodores, and more. |

Story Behind the Song
This has to be one of the more random songs we have written. The lyrics for this song, as for most of "Rotation" revolve around a breakup of some kind. A guy (or girl, but this was written from a guy perspective) just lost and without direction in a situation. It could relate to almsot anything actually.
In the studio, this song spread itself out over 3 months. It was one of the first tracks we laid down at Woodhouse Recording (Larry Carr's studio in Chesapeake, VA) and it was on 2" tape (24 track Studer). so we have alot to play with.
The bass was re-recorded by Drew Pathwick, who at the time, was not in the band (had been for a year, had left due to illness, and came back after the CD release). He came in and funkdified the song. After that, we laid down an additional guitar track (the chiming U2 esque guitar heard faintly in one channel.
The verse was originally one song and the chorus another, and we threw them together one day and now you have this. Enjoy kids.
Lyrics
Awaken from my Java Dream, a stupor state of pure caffiene
Into the murky darkness as I swim I start to sink
Once had a little bit of love oh just a little bit of faith and trust
But you came like a turncoat and you turned that into dust
I walk and talk you pass me by, I beg forgiveness, don't know why
I should kill integrity to be worthy in your eyes
Baby maybe I gotta go
Baby maybe I gotta go do swinging...
And I don't know my reasons, and I cannot tell what's what
Indecision is screaming for me to try and run
In this solace of silence, try to find something of mine
But my fellings are sinking someone I'm not sure I'll find...
I've heard the knock upon the door of Cellar 201 before
I hoped to turn the key and see you staring back at me
Your Fives and lines and pennies lead me on into the brink
Can't you spare a dime to tie me over 'til next week
Waiting for a yes or no, rambling on as you do so
I hear the raging insurection say it's time to go
Baby maybe I gotta go
Baby maybe I gotta go do swinging...
And I don't know my reasons and I cannot tell what's what
And this picture I've painted now hangs upon my wall...
As I reel in the vision, nothing seems to be so fine
And i wish i was only falling down into your eyes...
And I don't know my reasons and I cannot tell what's what
Indecision is screaming for me to try and run
In this solace of silence, try to find something of mine
But my fellings are sinking someone I'm not sure I'll find...
Someone I'm not sure i'll find...
Someone I'm not sure I'll find...
