Story Behind the Song
We all go through this at some point - moving day. Its launch point from where you were, to where youre going. Its the point where you know youve screwed up, or she screwed up, or whichever, regardless, its over. And there you sit, on the launch pad, still in between, with your memories in your hands, perhaps a picture, a ring, a cardboard box of love letters - it's all there with you now, spread out on the lawn, waiting for the truck to show up.
This recording was meant to be, and still is more or less a sketch. It was never meant to be "finished" for upload. However, this simple mix works. I really like it, seems I caught one of those special moments. I'll be doing another mix, consider this like an unplugged preview.
Sit back, take some time to flow with this. It's almost seven minutes long... but it has three acts ; )
Lyrics
Maybe we shouldnt say too long
fade away
Lets find a shooting star
To bear our names
Blame it on the house and cars
keeps me away
In your hands, a palmful of stardust
While my hands stray
___
If you knew what I had on my chest
Youd run so far so fast
But if you knew, then would you care
To know when youre not around
Im so alone
___
Home of the brave
Home of our lives
Home of many tender years
I would not deny
On the lawn...
Here I sit on sage
Here I sit on thyme
Here are gathered many stones
Born, both your tears and mine
On the lawn...
