Story Behind the Song
Our sax player calls this a 'moody' song.
The drums were taken from a live recording
and everything else was overlayed. I couldn't
get into singing this tune with headphones
so I stood in front of the speakers to get
the 'body' feel of the rest of the band.
The fantastic guitar solo at the end was also
taken from the live mix. This is another
'healing' type of song - a little melancholy.
Lyrics
The sun and I were restless for a young heart to say
hey is it nearly true you never stop shining
even when you're gone, or it looks as if you're hiding
behind your mothers grey skirts ... thin disguise
Yesterday was hoping for the children to stay
hey is it nearly true you let the darkness fool you
or is it me that's wrong to think of you as sleeping
under a blanket of youth ... thin disguise
Hey have you seen the ocean floor
down here I don't see you at all
there's a really odd cat with luminous eyes
telling me tales of thin disguise
River was a girl who left her name beside the sea
hey is it nearly true you found your way to leaving
or do you live between the lines that I have searched
... thin disguise
Hey have you seen ... etc.
