Track from the ballet «Alice In Musicland»In the ballet "Alice in Musicland " Alexander Rosenblatt makes use of approximately 80 themes from world classics, whimsically, unexpectedly, elegantly and yet most smoothly blending together seemingly quite incompatible melodies and constructing new ones from several old ones. In a word, amazing things are happening to the classic tunes, quite in line with the subject-matter of L.Carrol.

    Story Behind the Song
One could state with all certainty that prior to the appearance of this disc, music-lovers never had such a glorious opportunity to enjoy such a wealth of melodies of popular world classics, and, most importantly, of such a nature. Of course there have been well-known examples of pot-pourri on this or that theme, or on a number of themes. In world music practice this is usually numerous fantasias on themes from "Carmen", films featuring Charlie Chaplin, etc.
Arrangements of popular classics for symphonic orchestras a la pot-pourri on classical themes, performed by the London Symphony orchestra with the use of percussions and occasional changes of metre are not taken into account.
In the ballet "Alice in Musicland " Alexander Rosenblatt makes use of approximately 80 themes from world classics, whimsically, unexpectedly, elegantly and yet most smoothly blending together seemingly quite incompatible melodies and constructing new ones from several old ones. In a word, amazing things are happening to the classic tunes, quite in line with the subject-matter of L.Carrol. The hilarious, zany, half-mad characters of the book are, in my opinion, most successfully rendered via transformed and exquisitely rearranged classics.
The author's romantically beautiful, with an unmistakable sheen of Hollywood, music conveys the essential genuine attitude of the composer as regards the only "live" character -Alice - and her relationship with Musicland.
