Another Jazz type sound that we are just getting into. "Stranger" features some nifty tricks on the vox to get a very tight, doubled sound. |

Story Behind the Song
Stranger was actually written about a former supervisor! He really had this fixation with Power. So, sounded liked a good thing to write about. :-)
Stranger took about 3 months to finish. I had the basic song down, but had put it back to work on some other bits for the CD. One day it just hit me to pick it up and finish it. I hadn't done much with Latin or Jazz beats at the time and wasn't sure exactly where to go with it. Rockin' Rick suggested, "Play like Santana". Sounded good to me! :-) So, here is my attempt at a Santana type piece.
Oh yeah, there are some really nice vocal tricks using some doubling and a vocal harmonizer. Not too much, just enough to be tastey.
Lyrics
Something deep inside of me cries. And now that something deep has died. The World seems stranger now, it's not the world I've know. You're like a stranger to me now. Much stranger than before.
(Chorus)You are a Stranger in my eyes. Telling me your lies. I will not listen like before. You cannot lock an open door.
This World is treating me like I was diseased. Like a cancer of the weak, or a tumor of the meek. Like a filthy beggars son, or a knot thats come undone, or a killer in the night....lusting for your life.
But the killer is not me, I'm not the one diseased. Or the one who's eyes can't see. It is you that walks the Night.....shunned by the Light.
(Chorus)
We had a chance to live an open life. But you gave it up for what's become your vice. Power's made you mad, and you can't handle it. And now that something deep that died, is you from all your lies.
