	Story Behind the Song Original Phonics drummer Mike Maggi passed away in 1997. Mike was a fine musician and a great friend. He told me once that when he died he would like this composition from the Phonics songbook played at his memorial service. The four original members of the Phonics reunited in 1997 to record this version of China Doll in memory of Mike.
