    Story Behind the Song
This song is about a guy that comes back to his home town after being away for a while and finds that everything has changed and he is no longer welcome...

    Lyrics
I was walkin' along the boardwalk
In this little bitty town of mine.
The men, they didn't look to friendly
But the girls, they sure looked fine!
That's when I walked into the Bar Room
Lookin' for a real good time!
I ordered up a Gin and Soda
Three guys approached me from behind.

They said "Now tell us where you come from...
And you'd better make it good!"
Said, "I'm a little to the left of Country,
But to the right of Hollywood."

    I said,"Hey boys what's the problem?"
"Am I a little bit out of line?"
He said that, "You might not belong here,
And your clothes don't look like mine."
Well I turned around and kept on drinkin'
That's when they jumped me from behind...
A couple of them held my arms back,
Another hit me just one time!

He said, "Now tell us where you come from...
And you'd better make it good!"
Said, "I'm a little to the left of Country,
But to the right of Hollywood!"

Well in came the County Sheriff
He wore a Rattlesnake for a tie!!
He said that "We don't take to strangers,
And I'm arrestin' you for this crime!"
"Now you can come on right along real peaceful,
And confess as to what you did!"
"Or you can cause me just a little trouble,
And I might just fill you full of lead!!"

He said "Now tell us where your come from...
And you'd better make it good!"
Said, "I'm a little to the left of Country,
But to the right of Hollywood!"

Well they dragged me into the courthouse,
They had a blind man for a judge!
He said, "Around here I'm called the Hangman,
And I sure know how to hold a grudge!"
"If I ever hear that you're back here,"
"You'll be payin' more than just a fine!"
He said, "Now get on your horse and travel,
Until you're crossin' the County line..."

"But first tell us where you come from,
And you'd better make it good...'
Said, "I'm a little to the left of Country...
But to the right of Hollywood!!"
