Story Behind the Song
A friend would tke every small relationship she would get into and magnify it into "the one." Every man she met was somehow her true love, despite the accumulated evidence to the contrary. The song was written in San Diego, and took a couple of days. The recording took a couple of weeks. One take for the rhythm section, a few more for vocals and solos.
Lyrics
I Believe
If you were a mirror I would hate what I see
Pity and the tolerating ice looking back
so I call you again for the sixtieth time
I get a busy signal so I know you gotta love me.
I believe, I believe, I believe
Can't see for the wool in my eyes
I believe, I believe, I believe
It's so good between us that you must run away
I take that as a compliment and cook you something that I know you'll like
Your friends all say I'm really good for you
I wish my friends could say the same, but still in all, you know
I believe....
Stay and have my baby, or another cup of coffee
If you can't commit at least come back and care about me
As a friend, of course I'll understand
And sleep with you regardless just in cast cause I know you're the one
I believe.....
