A pop/folk tune with lyrics by Renee Pennington and fantastically lyrical bass playing by Scott Ambush of the band Spyro Gyra |

Story Behind the Song
The lyrics (for me) are all about trying to fogive a lover for leaving. Acknowledging that they did what they had to do, and did their best to do it honourably. Kind of a "I miss you, but no hard feelings" kind of a tune. We recorded it over a period of months, exploring different sonic possibilities. The harmonies came pretty easy, but Zak and I had more than one argument about the "na na na" vocals at the end of the middle break, and the overdriven guitar riff immediately following that is still being argued about in late night sessions. (I won, heh heh).
Lyrics
Did you return to forget me
from across the sea
and were your visions of you there
all that you need
now the recognition, once timeless and true
is a fading reminder of me and you
Chorus
and I'll see you in another town
in another life, when the sun goes down
everything you've said, I've heard
and I'll spend my life trying to put you in words
and your songs of smiles
dance nervously away
and you look inspired
or determined I can't say
will I see you again when there's something to learn
will we stand close to the fire as the pages burn
Chorus
We began before we met, to end before it's over
Maybe then, we'll meet again. I'll close my eyes and forget
And I'll see you in some far-off place
with familiar pain and familiar grace
and I'll hold all you are in me
and spend my life trying to set you free
