    Story Behind the Song
This song was motivated by a great feeling of relief at being out of a destructive relationship. I used to think it was not ok to acknowledge feeling angry or hurt; in the course of this breakup I learned that it's ok to feel that and express it, as long as you don't cling to your feelings of the moment. The person who inspired it is welcome back in my life as long as things are different between us.
I originally thought this was going to be a ballad, but my inner mick jagger took over and turned it into something that at least obliquely references the Rolling Stones. I finished one version of it but was not satisfied with the way the timing worked out, so i started over again and this is what we got. It starts out a little rough, I think, but that's what breaking up is like....

    Lyrics
You won every argument You won every fight
Always had the last word In the middle of the night
You so sure of yourself You come on so strong
You always had an answer But your answers was wrong

You knew all the faults Of everything and everybody
Always had a good reason To put em all on the shelf
You knew what was wrong With everything and everybody
    Everybody that is, Except yourself

Now I’m free from you And I don’t regret it
Free from you And my heart’s my own
Free from you And the fog has lifted
Gonna roll down the road Just to see where it goes

You said I’d be A fool to leave you
never find nobody That would treat me like you
Well baby, I’ve had Enough of your treatment
Some other kinda treatment’s Gona have to do

Now I’m free from you And I don’t mind dyin’
Free from you And I’m glad to be alive
Free from you And I feel like dancing
Strike up the band Now I’m ready to fly

I know I’ll be missin Our tender moments
But I’ve had enough of love in vain
Times we lay all night Enraptured together
But there wan’t enough love And there was too much pain

Free from you And I ain’t comin back again
Free from you and I’m on my way
Free from you And the sun is risn’
Glory hallelujah It’s a brand new day

Free from you And I ain’t comin back again
Free from you and I’m on my way
Free from you And the sun is risn’
Glory hallelujah It’s a brand new day

Free from you And I ain’t comin back again
Free from you and I’m on my way
Free from you And the sun is risn’
Glory hallelujah It’s a brand new day
    Glory hallelujah
    It’s a brand new day
