Story Behind the Song
I went to meet my date but he didn't show. I waited. I cried. Then, I wrote the lyrics to this song driving home I-4, Orlando to Tampa. It turned into a productive night.
Lyrics
Suddenly I knew I was in the right place the moment I saw your beautiful face. So pure, the light shining from your eyes; energy caught me by surprise. Dancing in the light, nothing felt so right. Everything about you was wonderful. I knew that I could spend my life with you. Believing in you with every breath, you promised me the world and everything else. Crying through the night, thoughts they take to flight. Running through the stars into the Milky Way, my fantasy postponed.
Suddenly I knew that something was not right dancing by myself in the fading moonlight; so weak the light shining from above, illuminating a very lonely love. Standing in the rain, nothing stopped the pain. Staring up at the moonlit sky, sometime in the middle of a hot July, the rain and tears fell down upon my face. I was there waiting for you.
Yeah, I heard what you had to say but words are just that – they’re words to you. Just because you say them doesn’t make them true. So now I know I’ll never see you again. Your promises were made to be broken. I played the waiting game, spent so many nights alone; I’m tired of this fantasy postponed.
