Story Behind the Song
Samad Behrangi wrote many children stories during his short life time. "The little Black Fish" is one of them. This story is about a curious little black fish that, against its mother's will leaves the creek it is born in to find out where it ends. During its journey toward the sea the little black fish encounters other creatures such as a crab and a mother lizard. The crab tries to deceive and hunt it. The mother lizard on the other hand, tells stories about the little fish which live in the sea and how they together defeat the fisherman who tries to capture them; and that the little fish fear a sea-bird which feeds on them! Shortly after the litle black fish reaches the sea, it is swallowed by the sea-bird. While in the bird's stomach, it finds a way to end the bird's life as well. From then on, the fish in the sea live with no fear of the fish-eating bird.
Samad Behrangi was born in the north western city of Tabriz, Iran. In 1968, Samad lost his life while swimming in Aras River. He was twenty nine years old. Samad Behrangi and his stories will always be remembered.
