    Story Behind the Song
This was inspired by stopping the car to listen and watch the rain. The lyrics were finally finished some time later on holiday in Ireland.
The whistling hollow synth noise was trying to mimic those hoover tubes you swung round your head to make a noise when you were little.

    Lyrics
    Dirty rain
    In my head
    I'm in the car
    Thinking again
    Feel my eyes slowing down
    Watching the condensation growing
    And the raindrops tracing tear-trails
On the other side of the windscreen
The raindrops magnify an unclear world

    Dirty rain
    Is so cold
    The glass mists
    With my breathing
    Slowly breathing
I glimpse finger-drawn on the glass
    A heart-shape
It slowly appeared like a ghost
    In the car alive again
    Not just in the car
    In my breath

    Cocooned again
    My dreams amiss
My view a flat and opaque grey
The heart-shaped symbol on the windscreen
A silent memory I don't want to keep
So I sweep my hand across cold glass
And soak my palm with my misted breath
I can see the dirt engrained
    In my loops and whorls

Maybe I should fingerprint my dreams
Maybe I should fingerprint my dreams
Maybe all these thoughts weren't mine at first
    These fitful views and words
    Are they yours?

    Turn the radio on...

    Static is purest poetry
    Purest bliss
    Harsh anguish
It says everything you want it to
And nothing that you don't want it to
    Meet you, date you
    Love you
    Hate you
    All the world turning grey
It's just the rain that gives your ghost away
It's the rain that gives your ghost away
