During a weekend camping trip in the woods, the acoustic guitar and lead vocal parts of this song were recorded sitting by the campfire. You can actually hear the fire crackling throughout the song, along with faint chirping of crickets. It's a very spacious, layed back song capturing a feeling of complete openess, awareness, and being spiritually connected to the wonder of nature in a moment where the night was still while staring into the fire making shadows dance against a canopy of autumn leaves. |
CD: Sources of Salvation
Label: Blue Moon Records
Credits: Joshua Moore - Vocals, acoustic guitar, drum machine and bass programming, and keyboard. Dan Hall - Electric guitar |
Lyrics
VERSE: Here I am in the woods again glowing in orange light. I'm staring into the fire and moon lighting up the night. My pupils are wide, opening my mind, soaring across the sky. I'm feeling the heights of spirit I find learning to fly. CHORUS: Flickering, flaming light and dancing shadows, they're giving a show, leaving out tomorrow. Flickering, flaming light and dancing shadows, meditative trance, getting out the sorrow. VERSE: A million life-spans it seems I've sat, cleansing this aged soul. Nature has shown that my heart has grown through the stories the years hold. Like mighty, tall kings, the towering trees protect me like old friends, letting me see how good life can be regaining strength bent (REPEAT CHORUS). VERSE: In the distance, and owl hoots a sound. It's after midnight. The time seems to stop. I rest with my thoughts forever in orange light.
