This piece, written for Symphonic Band, was written in 1967, Canada's Centennial Year. It is based on four folk songs taken from the collection of Nova Scotia folk songs by Helen Creighton. The performance was recorded around that time by the RCA Band, which was then stationed in Halifax, and was conducted by Captain Joe Dowell.
