    Story Behind the Song
I was recording a few songs. The engineer kept calling girls on his 'phone - every 10 minutes, and I realised he was having "love" conversations with 3 different girls. Eventually one - who actually was his girlfriend - shouted at him and hung up. He appeared astonished and asked me if I knew what women want. "What do they want?" he said. This song is my answer.

    Lyrics
    What Women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?

I'm a woman - that says it all
I'm a woman and I wanna have it all
I'm flying, flying through the air
I'm gliding and I really do care
About the world and about the sea
About pollution - I wanna hug a tree
    And I'm crying for life
And I've got love in my heart, love in my soul

I'm a woman - that says it all
And I've got tears in my eyes as we speak
For the hungry, for the dispossessed
For those starving women holding children to their breasts
While some western person says, "that's disgusting"
Those little children get their only daily sustenance
    And I say, "here's peace, here's warmth, here's light
Here's love, here's life, here is a woman"

    What women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?
'Cause I can tell you what women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?
'Cause I can tell you, I can tell you

    I'm a woman - now that's for sure
    I'm a woman and I don't wanna fall
    I'm standing on solid ground
My legs, why they're so strong I bound
And my feet they float above the earth
And I know I'm ready for rebirth
    And love means everything
And beyond that I know nothing

    What women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?
'Cause I can tell you what women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?
'Cause I can tell you, I can tell you
    She wants hope
    She wants faith
    She wants one honest love

We're women - that says it all
We're women and we wanna have it all
We're sisters, we could be wives
We could be mothers and we're all children of the light
And we love, yes we love,
We love so much that the sky never fades
And I know you're there for me
If I can only find you somewhere...

    What women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?
'Cause I can tell you what women want
Do you really wanna know what women want?
'Cause I can tell you, I can tell you
    She wants hope
    She wants faith
    She wants one honest love
