Story Behind the Song
This song is the re-birth of a old song I wrote in 1972. Just a day in the life of a U.S. Marine in North Carolina, people I met and feeling the crunch of not being in control of my life.
Lyrics
COMPLETE CONTROL
Murlin 1972
A deaf man wrote, down these lyrics
Sits here crying, can’t here no music
Slim, long legged lady, comes to me
Hands me a paper about her disease
Echo’s of noises, I never heard before
As the pawn makes war on the chess board
Clock on the wall say’s I’m three years fast
And also tells me, my good years have passed
We’re in complete control
We’re in complete control
We’re in complete control
We’re in complete control
Tears of the future, joy of my youth
Was I far from right finding children the truth
Well they won’t lie less we force them too
Won’t do wrong without copying from you
Won’t do wrong without copying from you
Horror and death, life’s final breath
When I breathe it will I believe it
It is my final doing here on earth
Can I realize the value of life’s true worth
What is the value of life that’s not free
A life that is mine, but not run by me
Are we all actors, stuck in a role
No, we’re the ones in complete control
No, we’re the ones in complete control
We made our laws and we made our plans
Now isn’t that why we left our motherlands
Well freedom is needed, freedoms a must
We’ll all get it when we rot back to dust
We’re in complete control
We’re in complete control
We’re in complete control
We’re in complete control
