Story Behind the Song
Nick (me, but I'll continue to speak in 3rd person for effect) hadn't written a song in about 3 years, so one night (october of '02) he took a LOT of speed and wrote and recorded this one in about 4 hours. The version heard here is more recent (august of '03). It was recorded live in Nick's garage, and showcases how much better songs are when they're played by a band. We only did about two takes of it, and this is definitely the superior of the two.
Lyrics
my power meter's exposed - well, the lines grow red and expose my holes - there's an acid-washed ache inside of my brain - waiting for me to expire - all i need is a whole to plug into - this AC adapter gonna raise my hopes, my battery's not dead - it's a current my will desires
the meter goes down, down, down - the lines change from green to red - you can't say anything, you got anything? - anything to get me out of bed
everything i know that completes a circuit has a negative - but every circuit needs a positive if it expects to live - that's my dilemma - a fading heartbeat is obsolete if the drive's not there to see things through - such is the plight of the blown-out fuse
my circuit breaker explodes - rain down my chromed out guts and my rusted soul - battery acid bleaches, the onlookers stare - just get me to a solder gun, or get me where the sockets are - you said you'd never plub me in - i thought you were just pulling on my chain - but when i turned around i saw that you had left my cord a knot, exposed and frayed
the meter goes down, down, down - lines change from green to red - you can't say anything? you got anything? - anything to get me out of bed
this is nothing new to me - please tell me it's just the last time - i can't rebuild myself anymore, just explode on the inside - this is nothing new to me - please tell me it's just the last time - i can't rebuild myself again - obsolete on the inside
i saw a doctor, he couldn't do anything for me - so i pointed and flexed my way all over town
i got nothing
i got nothing
