This is the 174th song I've written. I never did come up with a good title for it, so #174 just kind of stuck. This is a song about being careful what you ask for in life, because sometimes it's not all that it was cracked up to be. "Please be careful what you wish for in this life... cause you might just get it!" This version was recorded live at Waterworks Park in Vancouver, Washington at a concert, so there's some crowd noise in the recording. This is one of the new tracks slated for the new "Undertow" CD.

    Story Behind the Song
This song is taken from various scriptures including James 4, and speaks of being careful what we ask for in life. Sometimes we envy and strive for things that we think we really need, and sometimes God even allows us to obtain them just to find out how bad they were for us and that we should look to him for our fulfillment and joy. We need to learn to be content in all things.

    Lyrics
Every Tom, Dick and Harry, even a few Janes I've met
They're all looking for, asking for some happiness
But they're looking in the strangest places, strangers' faces to find it
And often what they find cannot fill the void down deep inside

You must be careful what you ask for in this life
Cause you might just get it
Please be careful what you wish for in this life
Cause you might just get it

So let's follow the story of a nameless, faceless man, we'll call him Fred
He seemed to have it all: a wife, a kid, a car, a home
But still he longed to get ahead
The promotion came and he thought he had it made
    So little did he suspect
It would take more of his time away until his wife crawled in another's bed

Why must we always ask for more
    Never be satisfied
Why can't we learn to be content
    With our lot in life

From where does all this fighting come
Oh even from our lusts which war within us
Want what we don't have oh and so we kill
But still we don't receive because we
Don't ask of God, but even when we do
    We don't receive because we
Ask with wrong intentions that we might spend it
On ourselves just to find it's not what it was cracked up to be
