Story Behind the Song
Warszawska Polka, by Aleksander Iwanowski
In my research for additional material for my Olden Style Music Gallery, I visited many sources that are available on the Internet. When I found this Traditionally Polish polka, I felt compelled to write an orchestral version of it. Later, when I renewed my interest in the trumpet, I decided that I would make this a milestone piece because of its challenges to that instrument. The quick jump ups, of nearly an octave, will probably always challenge my trumpet skills.
This composition, which is based on the Edison sound recording from 1922, features MIDI instrument sound fonts combined with my live trumpet. I hope that you enjoy this snappy polka as much as did in producing it.
You can hear the original Edison sound recording, by Aleksander Iwanowski, at the American Memory site.
