Story Behind the Song
This song is dedicated to a wonderful person I once knew who struggled with and I imagine stillstruggles with the disease of alcoholism. I hope that they can understand that I sympathize, and that this is how I imagine thier fight.
Lyrics
Wraith
Wake to another wasted day,
and everything's so far away,
with this pounding in my head,
once again, I wake the dead
{Chorus 1}
I shouldn't be here by myself,
with wraiths in bottles on my shelf,
I know the spirits linger on,
promising comforts all night long.
This simple seance,
like a dream,
blurs out like candles in a stream,
as the dead fall in the glass,
I watch my own spirit collapse
My friends sit by and let me drown,
but those old ghosts won't let me down,
before they whisk me off to bed,
I'll have communion with the dead.
{Chorus 2}
And I can't do this by myself,
with wraiths in bottles on my shelf,
what can you give me to resist,
spirits of the dead insist.
God knows I'll never have it all,
with wraiths in bottles on my wall,
is it trading out for less,
to only crave sweet death's caress
(repeat 1st verse)
(repeat 2nd chorus)
