The train in Lowell used to keep me up because i could hear it from my window...i wrote the song and threw it away. Five months later i picked it up and realized it was done.

    Story Behind the Song
The Train in Lowell used to keep me up because i could hear it from my window in the middle of the night. I used to wonder who would be on the train at 3 in the morning and this song idea came to me. As far as the mid-section:
My freshman year a highschool girl jumped off of the bridge because her boyfriend broke up with her, i think it was her third attempt. That struck me pretty hard.

    there you have it.

    Lyrics
3:10 pulls in like a ghost
lonely and moaning, haunting my sleep
singing the song of every jilted love
torn and stumbling for some small piece
    of solid ground

the lights flicker on and off
    single seats only tonight
    you flicker on and off
to leave takes one crisp ticket stub and all of my might

and last spring that poor girl fell too hard, too fast
until she hit the river bottom
    crushed by gravity and love
i know exactly where she came from
i know her hand on the railing
    nothing but air beneath
the lights flicker on and off
    single seats only tonight
    you flicker on and off
to leave takes one crisp ticket stub and all of my might

this city is dying for love
it's had too many lonely nights to count
now it's just running like all the rest
    -to hop a train
    -to get away
    -to empty out
into a city that is the same
    -only wearing different clothes

the lights flicker on and off
    single seats only tonight
    you flicker on and off
to leave takes one crisp ticket stub and all of my might

3:10 pulls in like a ghost
i'm torn and stumbling for some small piece
