	Story Behind the Song Written around 1983 after I had gotten more into finger picking on acoustic guitar. I probably started writing it after a nice meditation. The words are supposed to paint an analogy between a sailor and the journey of the soul. Lyrics Heard a story 'bout a sailor On a journey far away from home Underneath the sky of darkness Lost upon the sea inside a storm Well you know I had dreamed of a man Who was free from the mind desires, Putting out the fiery sea. Well you know it can get lonely When the memory of home is gone But the sailor finds the shoreline And a glowing road leading him home. I could listen to this story of gold Even though it's older than the wind & water And the words are not the same. So we are the lonely sailor In a foggy mystery all our own But you can hear a silent voice say: Turn within within within with love. I can feel all the fear in the heart Disappear when the leaves of autumn Whisper that the world never ends.
