Story Behind the Song
Recorded in January at Mount Carbon over two days. Inspired by the Harewood Mountain Steppe. The Harewood Mountain Steppe is located on Route 60, Fayette County West Virginia across from the old coal camp of Longacre. Harewood Mountain's Steppe Terrace system is a good hike, no less than 45 degrees the whole duration, uphill and strung with fossils for those who wish to look. I've found old sandstone, red dog, slate and coal embedded fossils; primarily plant life. The Steppe served as a dumping location for red dog, slate and other rocks that were separated from coal mined from Harewood Coal during the last century. It has since been reclaimed, grass and trees planted (now very abundant and dense) providing a challenging hike, a beautiful view, hunting, and a home for white tail deer, coyote, black bear and wild turkey.
