    Story Behind the Song
Hap m Happy is an example of how Cantonese speakers in Hong Kong appropriate English words into their own language. It just means are you happy, and I thought it would be a fun phrase to write a song around.

That's my son Gabriel featured in the song, he was 4 when he was recorded for the song. He didn't know what the recording was for when we did it, and to this day pretends he's mad at me for "making him famous!" Hope you like the song.

    Lyrics
    HAP M HAPPY

    1. You speaka my language, but I no speaka you
You got the advantage, and I can't even say where's the loo?
Gonna study how you relate, no matter what it takes
Cause if I can't communicate, my heart and maybe by bladder gonna break

Hap hap hap m happy? Zhou san! Nei hou ma?
(How you doin? you happy? Good morning! How are you?)
Hap hap hap m happy? Chi sou, hai bin do a? (Where's the bathroom?!)
Some say Cantonese too hard, some say it not for me
    But I say yat yi sam sei! Easy as a 1 2 3... 4 you know it easy as 1 2 3

    2. Qi xin -- she call me crazy... till she seen me talk Chinese
Now I not so lazy -- I say m goi to her, I not say please
Look you see it rainin,' -- lok yu, watch it come down
I know I need a little trainin' but I really really like the Chinese sound

Hap hap hap m happy? Zhou san! Nei hou ma?
Hap hap hap m happy? Wei? Wan bin go a?Aiyaa!
Some say Cantonese too hard, some say it not for me
    But I say yat yi sam sei! Easy as a 1 2 3... 4 you know it easy as 1 2 3

Well maybe not so easy as 1 2 3 -- but baby I can say it if you helpin' me

    3. I don't wanna be just another gweilo -- a stranger in your society
show me the waaai -- to say hello, so we can be the best peng yau we can be

Hap hap hap m happy? Zhou san! Nei hou ma?
Hap hap hap m happy? Ngo gong guangdong hua (siu siu la)
    (I can speak Cantonese -- a little.)
Some say Cantonese too hard, some say it not for me
    But I say yat yi sam sei! Easy as a 1 2 3... 4 you know it easy as 1 2 3
Well maybe not so easy as 1 2 3 -- but baby I can say it if you helpin' me
