Story Behind the Song
The idea came from friend of mine was helping me with some lyrics to another song, and he came up with the phrase "Cold Love" - I took it from there, wrote the chorus first, and the rest just fell into place. I almost always write the music first and the lyrics second. Oddly enough, Cold Love was the first song where I'd written the lyrics first. I think Cold Love appeals to a wide audience because almost everybody at some point in their life has been infatuated with somebody who treats them like dirt.
Lyrics
Like a shadow...........
I call you at home and you're never there,
You think you're amazing with that long hair,
You try to avoid me, that I could swear,
But there's no point in acting like you might care,
You think you control me but I got news, that you can't see through cold love
Like a shadow fading into the dawn,
Like mist appearing out of the morn,
Your eyes are blind that I still love you,
But you can't see through cold love,
I try to be cool but you drive me insane,
When you're so set about just to cause me pain,
You think you're incredible but then you're so vain,
I wonder what keeps my head so sane,
When you think you're so charming,
You'll never learn that you can't see through cold love.
Like a shadow fading into the dawn,
Like mist appearing out of the morn,
Your eyes are blind that I still love you,
But you can't see through cold love,
When you're with my friends and acting so fine,
Like you're trying appear that you're divine,
You're somebody else every other time,
I wonder exactly why I'd want you mine,
I'm hoping one day that you'll understand, you can't see through cold love.
Like a shadow fading into the dawn,
Like mist appearing out of the morn,
Your eyes are blind that I still love you,
But you can't see through cold love,
Repeat.
