Story Behind the Song
Lynda was working as an Interior Plant Technician (Plant Lady to the folks that knew her, in fact I became known as the Plant Lady’s Husband - I digress). She took care of live plants in offices and homes. Anyway, her boss had her doing some ladder work in the beginning. She had (has) a fear of heights. She used to have nightmares about the job until her boss finally believed that her fear of heights was real. So, that’s where this song started with “Baby’s got a thing you know she don’t like heights. But when I asked her were she worked, she said up out of sight ...

Baby Drives Me Crazy
Words & Music Mike Zaneski
M. Zaneski 1993
Baby’s got a thing. You know she don’t like heights.
But when I asked her where she worked, she said “Up out of sight.”.
I pushed the matter further just to get the details.
She said she cleans the sky lights down at Bloomingdales.
Now I looked her up and down once or twice.
She looked like a girl that I might like.
I said “You know maybe, baby, if you wouldn’t mind?”.
She said “Yes. Yes. Call me anytime.”
Chorus
She’s all right. Oh yea.
She’s out of sight. Uh huh.
She’s so fine, and I don’t mind.
Baby drives me crazy all of the time.
Well I picked her up at 8 o’clock for our date.
I made sure that I was not late.
And there she was in a dress of blue.
She said “Oh babe, I wore this just for you.”.
Well we danced and we danced until the break of dawn.
By that time I was nearly gone.
When she lifted me up off of my knees.
I said “Oh baby now, please, please, please.”.
Chorus
