Story Behind the Song
Wanted to write a good story song to play mid-set. Turned out to be asong that we really, really like.
Lyrics
Left her home in Albany when she was just a girl. Set out then to find what she could see.
Came upon a lonely dog that couldn’t be more than 2, trapped behind a fence for all to see.
Excuse me miss can I talk to you, my name is mike and I’ve been here for days
If you’d be so kind as to rescue me, by your side forever I will stay.
And Oh, how I’ll love ya. And I will stay with you till days of far away.
Always remember what you did for me today. The day you set me free
.
Well she and Mike they traveled round and round the countryside. Moving town to town and place to place
They came upon an Inn one night that wouldn’t let them stay, “You’re dog cannot occupy this space”
Excuse me sir; please explain to me, why I cannot bring my friend inside
I will not stay, in this retched place, for just cannot leave my best friend’s side
And Mike said:
Oh, how I love ya. And I will stay with you till days of far away.
Always remember what you did for me today. The day stayed with me.
Many days turned into nights and they turned into years. They stopped in every little place they found
Until one day they happened ‘pon dark and dusty road, nestled in a dark and dusty town
The across the street in the alley way, a sound arose and flashed with all it’s might
And a bullet screamed through the air that night, a bullet aimed for her but then hit mike
She fell upon her loyal friend, and watched his breathing slow, her heart filled up and she began to cry
Mike he looked up at his friend and he began to say, I’m glad that you are with me as I die
And she said:
Oh, how I love ya. And I will stay with until you pass away.
Always remember what you did for me today. The day you saved my life
