this is a long song, its the epitaph for youth, thinking you own the world, also it fits the world as current, a lot of people are growing up in a tough world for a lot of reasons that start with home and country. The symbalism of american pie is just that, it is not reflective of the US but rather it is a phrase which most people can relate to.

    Story Behind the Song
As mentioned it deals with the struggles of youth in a tough world. The song was recorded in about 24 tracks, very few effects were used, maybe one, the vocals are just as they were recorded, no thickening or compression, thanks to Jimmy for the guitar solo.

    Lyrics
Maybe I’m a dreamer for believing in my youth
Maybe I’m a fool for laughing at the truth
These days are diamonds and others are rust
It’s american pie but its burning in the crust

    When I grow up
    When I grow up

Maybe I’ll be there to build a dream
Maybe I will steal then and live a smokescreen
These days are diamonds and others are rust
Its american pie but its burning in the crust
I’m going to dream and scheme
    And rule the world
I’m going to shove and shout
    And break the rules
I’m going to be the king
    Of all the minds

Its just another day in the middle of many
I got no money but I don’t have to be at home tonight
It’s coming undone but the party was fun
And that’s when I grow up

Maybe I was naieve to think it would work out
Maybe it was dying when they danced the twist and shout
These days are diamonds and others are rust
Its american pie but its burning in the crust
